Dolphins even record

The Ceres recreational swim club moved to 3-3 in the Mid-Valley Swim League standings after securing a split last Saturday. The Dolphins (1,207.50) defeated Turlock (169), but lost to Manteca (1,458.5) at East Union High School.

"Overall, I thought we performed very well," coach Tracy Bull said. "We had a bunch of people go undefeated. We also had kids swim in events they don't normally compete in. It was a very competitive meet."

The tri-meet was stopped early due to lightning.

"After 20 minutes of waiting and watching the sky, we (three head coaches) got together and called it," Bull said. "Safety is so important."

The last four relay events were canceled.

"That hurt us," Bull said. "The score would have been a lot closer had we finished. We would have won all of them except for the 15-16 girls."

Jessalyn Johnson, Shane Nunes, Ryan Calou, Cierra Alvear, Victor Cruz, Haley Fisicaro and Jadyn Shinn all went 3-0 in their respective age divisions. The Dolphins had a host of other contributors as well.
