Sacramento State senior Brianne Ferguson earned Pacific Coast Softball Pitcher of the Week honors. The announcement was made on Feb. 7.

For Ferguson, it marked the fourth time in her career winning the award.

The 2001 Ceres High graduate compiled a 2-0 record with a 0.00 ERA in two starts at the Mustang Roundup Tournament in San Luis Obispo. Ferguson made the all-tourney team.

She allowed just six hits, all singles, while striking out 17 in 14 innings of work. Opponents combined to hit just .133 against Ferguson.

Ferguson began the week on Friday, Feb. 4 by tossing a two-hit shutout against Arkansas. She walked only one batter while striking out six as she faced just four batters over the minimum. She allowed just one runner to advance past second base and did not allow a hit after the third inning.

In Sacramento State's 1-0 victory over Nevada, Ferguson surrendered just four singles over seven innings and did not allow a runner past second base.

In addition, she struck out a career-high 11 while walking just three. During one point in the game, she retired nine batters in a row.

Ferguson earned first-team, all-PCSC honors last season after leading the Hornets in wins (16), appearances (29) and shutouts (nine).
