Central Valley High School's wrestling program brought home a third-place trophy from Los Banos' Morningstar Ladies Invitational on Dec. 17.

Rose Moore, Malynda Lomeli, Lexy Cordova and Zaira Reynoso turned in standout performances.

"They were pretty excited because there's not a lot of attention given to their side of the sport," Hawks head coach Rob Beckhart said.

Moore won the 118-pound championship and improved to 13-1 on the year. She beat five opponents by pin last week, including a 2010-11 state qualifier.

"She's an extremely technical wrestler," Beckhart said. "She's aggressive. She puts herself in position to win every time."

Lomeli took first with a perfect 3-0 record in the 138-pound weight class. She won by pin twice and decision once.

Malynda improved her overall record to 11-2.

"She has a good work ethic," Beckhart said. "She wrestles smart. She doesn't stop until the whistle blows."

Cordova (1-1) placed second at 126 pounds.

Reynoso (0-2) placed third at 165 pounds.
