The Ceres Sizzle 14-and-under travel softball team kept its perfect record intact this past weekend.

The Sizzle won all five of their games at the Hilmar tournament and improved to 10-0.

"We got a good group of girls who all get along," head coach Dima Ferrell said. "They don't put each other down. They work hard. They don't have attitudes. I'm very proud of them."

Ceres edged Hilmar 6-5 in the championship game Sunday afternoon.

The Sizzle overcame deficits of 2-0 and 5-2.

First baseman Rachel Arrouzet accounted for the game-winning hit.

She drove in outfielder Yescenia Godinez with a single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

"It was a great game," Ferrell said. "Everybody played well."

Ceres defeated Newman 7-2 in the semifinals Sunday morning.

The Sizzle collected wins against Hilmar (4-0), Newman (8-2) and Dos Palos (17-0) on Saturday.

Ceres opened the 2012 season with a 5-0 showing at the Newman tournament the previous weekend.

The Sizzle shut out Hilmar 9-0 for the title.

"They underestimated us the first time because our girls come from rec ball," Ferrell said.

Ceres' roster consists of 13 players, including Arrouzet, Godinez, Shania Cisneros (pitcher), Julie Rosas (pitcher), Alycia McDonald (second base), Raimee Mendoza (second base), Valaree Gonzalez (third base), Ariel Knights (shortstop), Adryana Knights (catcher), Dalia Esparza (outfield), Savanah Beltran (outfield), Stephanie Garcia (outfield) and Bryana Lopez (outfield).

The Sizzle have three assistant coaches: Nicole Ferrell, Jorge Gonzalez and Roman Rosas.

Ceres will compete at the Monster Bash this weekend at Rainbow Fields.

The Sizzle will vie for their third tournament crown.
