The Ceres 12-and-under all-star baseball squad compiled a near-perfect 5-1 record on its way to capturing the championship at the June 25-27 Empire Tournament.

"The kids played great together as a team," head coach Jose Reyes said.

Ceres topped Hughson 18-1 in the title game on July 27.
Andrew Lujan and Ryan Ashby logged playing time at pitcher for the All-Stars, who avenged a blowout loss.

Ceres defeated Orville Wright 15-2, Waterford 16-1 and Modesto Youth Little League 14-1 on June 26.

The All-Stars won one of two games during the opening day of the tournament on June 25.

Alex Castellanos hit two solo homers and Dylan Rivera added a two-run home run during Ceres' 12-6 victory over Orville Wright.

Tito Godoy belted a two-run homer in the All-Stars' 14-3 loss to Hughson.

The All-Stars were awarded a championship trophy and individual medals following their standout performance in Empire.

Ceres placed first at the Riverbank tournament earlier this season.
The All-Stars took third at Bel Passi.

Ceres' roster features 11 players: Lujan, Ashby, Castellanos, Rivera, Godoy, Martin Reyes, Xavier Valencia, Nathan Barajas, Morgan Dixon, Brock Gouker and Dylan Chipponeri.

"They're little kids," coach Reyes said. "We just play one game at a time and see what happens."
