Mixed results for 11 Hawk grapplers
Ceres club to hold signups this week

Eleven members of the Ceres Hawks Wrestling Club gained valuable experience while competing at the Reno Worlds Tournament in April.

"It was a fun tournament," coach Rob Beckhart said. "Hopefully, we'll be able to win some medals there in the near future."

Luis Saucedo (15&under, 108s), Christian Oliver (15&under, 125s), Severo Vazquez (18&under, 138s), Jason Beckhart (18-and-under bracket, 220 pounds), Ryan Hendrix (15&under, 125s), Will Sprouse (15&under, 132s) and Jaden Cooper (15&under, 135s) competed in the high-school division.

Saucedo won six of eight matches on his way to a top-12 finish.

Oliver posted a 2-2 record in a bracket featuring 160 wrestlers.

Vazquez had a 1-2 mark.

Beckhart, Hendrix, Sprouse and Cooper compiled 0-2 records.

Kyle Hendrix (12&under, 92s), Caleb Beckhart (6&under, 55s), Ruben Valenzuela (12&under, 110s) and Adrian Villareal (6&under, 43s) competed in the youth division.

Hendrix and Beckhart compiled a 1-2 records.

Valenzuela and Villareal compiled 0-2 records.

Former Central Valley High School standout grappler Ethan Rotondo (15&under, 101s) placed fourth.

The Union High School student represented the Southwest Washington Wrestling Club.

Rotondo took second in the Washington State-4A tournament this past season.

The Reno Worlds tourney was staged, April 11-12, at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center. The competition featured over 3,400 kids from more than 40 states.

"I can't be more proud of them," coach Beckhart said. "The whole program is growing."

The Ceres Hawks will stage signups for the 2015-16 season on Thursday, from 6-8:30 p.m., in the Central Valley High School wrestling room.

Cost is $85.
