A Ceres man faces charges of burglary after he allegedly broke through a window of a residence in the 2500 block of Kay Street early Friday.

A resident in the home said Shane Yarnell, 34, was inside the home claiming that the victim owed him $200. Apparently Yarnell had pulled the screen from the window and entered that way.

The occupants of the home knew Yarnell, said Ceres Police Division Commander Mike Borges. When the victim refused to pay up, Yarnell said he was going to take something of value.

A second unidentified suspect was with Yarnell.

Police dispatchers were called at 2:47 a.m. and they could hear a male yelling in the background. The call came in as a robbery. Officers were on scene within minutes and found Yarnell. He was booked for burglary and possession of methamphetamine.

The second suspect, described as Hispanic and wearing dark-colored clothing, was not apprehended.
