Endeavor Alternative High School junior Irene Chavez was honored Friday as a Rotary “Student of the Month.”

Irene serves on the distinguished Youth Advisory Committee. Irene shared that she appreciated learning about the past and how things are improving, particularly noting that school test scores are increasing. One topic that stood out to her was the high suicide rates among females, which she found surprising.

At home, Irene helps care for her two siblings, aged 12 months and 11 years old when her mother needs support. She enjoys the responsibility because it allows her to bond with them, demonstrating her strong sense of responsibility and caring nature.

Described as a very compassionate and dedicated young woman, Irene plans to pursue a degree in accounting after high school graduation.
