Pet adoption fees waived until July 4

Now is a great time to adopt a dog or cat for free now that the Stanislaus Animal Services Agency has teamed up with Best Friends Animal Society and more than 270 other partner rescue groups to offer fee-waived adoptions.

The fee waiver is being made in hopes of finding homes for 10,000 pets until July 3..

The adoption fees were covered by generous animal lovers to aid in more adoptions of homeless dogs and cats home over the summer.

“If you get excited when a stranger pays for your coffee, imagine the joy you’ll feel when adopting a pet whose adoption fee has been covered,” said Julie Castle, chief executive officer of Best Friends Animal Society.

Getting adoptable pets into homes is crucial this time of year, as each July, shelters across the country flood with dogs and cats. Many of those intakes happen around the Fourth of July holiday, when many pets flee home because of fearful reactions to fireworks and end up in municipal animal shelters.

“Animals in shelters are great loving pets and deserve the opportunity to thrive in a loving home,” said Annette Patton, executive director of Stanislaus Animal Services Agency.

Adoptable pets may be previewed online at www.stanislausanimalservices.com or by a personal visit. Pets are fixed, vaccinated and microchipped.

The promotion is part of Best Friends Animal Society’s Save Them All campaign to save the lives of dogs and cats in America’s shelters. Stanislaus Animal Services Agency is a Best Friends Network Partner.
