South Modesto crash victim identified
Arquel Rogers
A GoFundMe account has been created to help the family of Arquel Rogers with burial and funeral expenses. Rogers died in a May 2 car crash on Hatch Road between Dallas Street and Ustick Road.

A May 2 crash on Hatch Road in south Modesto took the life of a 34-year-old pedestrian.

The Stanislaus County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Arquel Rogers.

The fatal crash occurred between Dallas Street and Ustick Road at approximately 9 p.m. when multiple vehicles struck Rogers as he was crossing, said the Modesto Police Department. First-responders found Rogers deceased at the scene.

At least two drivers involved remained at the scene but Modesto police are hoping to confirm if he was struck by a third and identity the car and driver.

Rogers’ aunt, Sheressa Jackson, started a GoFundMe account to help the family with burial costs.

Jackson said her nephew was “a bright light in our lives, known for his kindness, laughter, and the love he shared with everyone around him. His sudden passing has left a void in our hearts that words cannot describe.”

As of Friday afternoon, the account had raised $3,860 of $6,000 sought.
