The chase of driver Michael L. Grissom, 26, of Modesto, began when a Sheriff's deputy attempted to pull over his van in Waterford for a traffic violation. But instead of stopping in the 3:45 p.m. contact, Grissom fled.

The pursuit went down Yosemite Boulevard to Empire, then south on Santa Fe through Hughson. The chase also reached Turlock and Ceres before ended where spike strips had been set near Bystrum Road and Ninth Street. A police canine was used to get the men out of the vehicle.

Also arrested was Grissom's passenger, Otoniel Munoz Jr., 27, of Riverbank.

Grissom was charged with evading a peace officer. Both he and Munoz faces charges of carrying a firearm in public, illegal possession of a firearm and violation of parole, with a gang enhancements.
