Services have been held at Lakewood Funeral Home for Mary Josepha Simons, 91, of Modesto. She died Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Seasons at Modesto.
Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Born Oct. 7, 1913, Mrs. Simons was a native of Honolulu and lived in Stanislaus County for 33 years. She was a homemaker and volunteered at a women's shelter. Mrs. Simons enjoyed canning, baking, music, dancing, reading, travel, fishing and watching sports. She was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres.
Mrs. Simons leaves behind four children, Sue Monrad of Modesto, Carol Silva of Manteca, Jack Simmons of San Lorenzo and Carl Simons of Hawaii; four sisters, Diana Bettencourt of Chico, Alethea Schenkleberg of San Diego, Dagmar Driskell of Arizona and Celeste Storm of Maryland; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Simons; and son Leory Nelson Simons.
