CV blasts Riverbank, Orestimba in baseball

Central Valley High School's baseball team improved to 6-3 in summer league play last week after beating three of four opponents.

The Hawks defeated Riverbank twice.

Kristian Olsen allowed no runs and struck out four over four innings in Central Valley's 12-1 victory over the Bruins on Thursday in Ceres.

Chris Moscozo belted a two-run homer and tripled.

On Monday, June 14, Moscozo, Alex Lomeli, Ruben Casas, David Dart and Scott Myatt helped lead the Hawks to a 11-1 win at Riverbank.

Lomeli, Central Valley's starting pitcher, lasted four innings. He gave up one run and fanned four.

Casas threw three innings in relief.

Dart, Moscozo and Myatt collected two hits apiece.

Grant Wolff tallied seven strikeouts and yielded two earned runs during Wednesday's 12-3 pounding of visiting Orestimba.

Jeremy Lasater, a reliever, pitched the final two innings.

Dart had a multi-hit game on offense.

Central Valley left the bases loaded in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings during its 7-4 loss to Johansen on Friday in Modesto.

Andy Lomeli drove in two runs for the Hawks.

Dart collected two hits.

Myatt had an RBI double.

Moscozo surrendered two earned runs and retired five batters via strikeout in four innings.

Lasater and Dart came on in relief. Both players logged two innings.

Central Valley will participate in the Lee Hampson tournament in Oakdale this week.

The Hawks face Grace Davis (Wednesday), Beyer (Thursday), Golden Valley (Friday) and Linden (Saturday).

The first three games begin at 5:15 p.m. The tournament finale will get underway at 9 a.m.
