A combined five members of Central Valley's and Ceres High's varsity girls soccer program were recognized in a vote by the Western Athletic Conference's head coaches on May 2 in Ceres.

Central Valley's Emely Amaya and Jackie Vasquez, and Ceres High's Ruby Alberto earned first-team, all-WAC honors.

Amaya, a sophomore midfielder, and Vasquez, a senior sweeper, both had one assist.

Alberto, a senior midfielder, played a major role on offense.

"She was one of our top scorers," Ceres High head coach Javier Mercado said.

Hawk Michelle Hernandez and Bulldog Angelica Slater were both named to the WAC Second Team.

Hernandez, a senior striker, collected a team-leading seven goals and one assist.

Slater, a sophomore, contributed at sweeper.

"She really helped us on defense this year," Mercado said. "She never gave up."

Central Valley (5-5-2) and Ceres High (3-7-2) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the WAC standings.
