CHS boys, girls fall to third place in swimming

Ceres High School's varsity boys and girls swim teams both dropped to 3-2 in the Western Athletic Conference dual-meet standings this past week.

The third-place Bulldogs were beaten by the first-place El Capitan Gauchos.

"The majority of our swimmers set personal records at the meet," head coach Sue Garcia said. "I'm very pleased. We had a lot of great performances. El Capitan has a lot of depth within the individual strokes. They also have more kids that swim year-round. We're getting there."

Ceres High's girls program lost 100-62 to El Capitan on Friday in Merced.

Bulldog standout Julia Pata placed first in the 100 free and 100 breast.

Ciana Sather placed first in the 100 fly and second in the 200 free.

Camryn Silva placed second in the 200 IM.

Annie Connors placed second in the 100 back and third in the 50 free.

Jullissa Arreola placed third in the 100 back and fourth in the 100 free.

Lindsey Reedy placed fourth in the 500 free.

Taylore Bentley placed fourth in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free.

Taleyna Sengsoury placed fourth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 breast.

Monae Decamera placed fifth in the 500 free.

Makayla Lawrence placed fifth in the 200 IM.

Paige Connolly placed fifth in the 200 free.

Kassandra Armas placed fifth in the 100 fly.

Kiera Brownlee placed fifth in the 100 breast and sixth in the 50 free.

Jade Dominguez placed sixth in the 200 free and 100 back.

Melissa Duarte placed sixth in the 500 free.

Savannah Zielke placed sixth in the 100 fly.

Ceres High's boys program lost 126-56 to El Capitan.

Bobby Baranski placed second in the 50 free and 100 free.

Caleb Bishop placed second in the 200 IM and 100 back.

Tristan Freitas-Scott placed third in the 200 free and 50 free.

Elliott Lewis placed third in the 100 breast and fourth in the 50 free.

Connor Mills placed fourth in the 500 free and fifth in the 200 free.

Gary Dodd placed fourth in the 100 free and fifth in the 200 IM.

Logan Kier placed fourth in the 100 fly and fifth in the 100 breast.

Michael Barnes placed fifth in the 100 back.
