Ceres High's varsity boys soccer team had trouble finishing while competing at the Pitman Pride Cup this past week at the Turlock Regional Sports Complex.

The Bulldogs totaled no goals on their way to posting a 1-3 record in Group C.

"It's early in the season," Ceres High head coach Danny Barragan said. "We'll get better. I'm definitely not giving up on my team. The potential is there. We just need more practice."

The Bulldogs lost 4-0 to Golden Valley and 2-0 to Oakdale on Friday.

Ceres High won by forfeit versus no-show Fortuna and lost 4-0 to Lincoln of Stockton on Saturday.

The Bulldogs lost the time-of-possession battle en route to being outscored 10-0 by their three opponents.

"I thought we were going to do better," Barragan said. "We should have been way more aggressive."

Shorthanded Ceres High used multiple different lineups during the course of the tournament.

Defender Jesus Ruiz (vacation) and midfielder/forward Osvaldo Padilla (ankle injury) missed all three of the contested games.

Defender Brandon Renteria was sidelined with a broken collarbone against Oakdale and Lincoln.

Midfielder Max Lopez (school testing) didn't play on Saturday.

Midfielder Andrott Alvarez missed the first half of the Lincoln contest.

"We didn't do good at all this tournament," Barrgan said. "We were missing some players that would have started and made a difference. But that's no excuse for the bad performance we had."
