CHS, CV battling for playoff berths in golf

Ceres High's, Central Valley's and Los Banos' varsity boys golf teams are batting for the Western Athletic Conference's final two playoff berths.

The Bulldogs won both of its matches and remained in a tie for third place with Central Valley last week.

Ceres High (20 points in league) improved to 7-3 in the WAC standings following Thursday's forfeit victory over winless Patterson at River Oaks.

The Bulldogs posted a team score of 192.

Ian Couture and Dominic Durossette led Ceres High with identical rounds of 35.

Blake Hurst (39), Andre Torres (39) and Matt Thornberry (44) also contributed.

Ceres High topped Pacheco by 48 strokes, 240-288, on April 16 at Pheasant Run Golf Club.

Couture and Blake Hurst paced the Bulldogs with identical scores of 45.

Durossette, Torres and Justine Moore shot 47, 50 and 53, respectively.

Central Valley improved to 6-4 in the WAC after beating Livingston 218-244 on April 16 at River Oaks.

Anthony Bonales led the Hawks (20 points) with a 2-over-par 33.

Jacob Craig (40), Carlos Alfonso (44), Adrian Arellano (49) and Austin Jacques (52) rounded out Central Valley's scorecard.
