Gutierrez, Suarez lead Ceres High in cross country

The members of Ceres High's cross country program competed at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division-III Championships this past weekend in Angels Camp.

Ceres High's varsity boys posted a team score of 602 en route to finishing in 18th place on Saturday at Frogtown.

Joseph Gutierrez was the Bulldogs' top runner.

Gutierrez placed 91st with a time of 18 minutes, 28 seconds on the 3-mile course.

Aaron Alarcon (18:24), Dominick Nicastro (19:37), Kendrick Perata (20:08), Rafael Ortiz (20:43) and Clemente Zavala (21:37) took 94th, 130th, 148th, 161st and 179th, respectively.

Ceres High's varsity girls didn't have enough runners to post a team score at Divisionals.

Destiny Suarez (96th, 23:24) led the Bulldogs, followed by Deborah Vasquez (122nd, 25:27)

Ceres High's frosh-soph girls placed 11th with a team score of 277.

Jacqueline Rodriguez paced the Bulldogs (44th, 16:23) on the 2.2-mile course.

Cynthia Renteria (56th, 16:54), Adriana Ramos (68th, 17:55), Marissa Prestia (95th, 19:38) and Karen Vang (113th, 22:14) participated as well.

Bulldog Colton Johnson (48th, 13:17) raced in the sophomore boys division.
