Central Valley’s varsity boys and girls swim programs remained winless in the Central California Conference dual-meet standings last week.

“It’s challenging when it comes to scoring points because we don’t have experience and lack numbers,” head coach Julie Brooks said. “Once we get our own pool, our program will grow.”

Central Valley’s girls team lost to host Buhach Colony on Friday in Atwater.

“We gave it our all,” Hawks’ junior standout Aryanna Jimenez said.

Central Valley fell to 0-5 in the CCC.

“I’m trying to set an example for the team. I’m constantly working with the other girls. I’ve definitely seen a lot of improvement.”

The Hawks’ 200 medley relay team of Jimenez, Leslie Bobadilla, Ashley Corro and Monika Castillo finished third.

Central Valley’s boys team dropped to 0-5 in the league standings following its loss to Buhach Colony.

Miguel Lindoro, the Hawks’ lone competitor, did not place in the 50 free.

Bobadilla, Sejal Malhi, Dailyn Melchner, Amaris Shaw, Areli Sandoval and Whitney Renga scored points for Central Valley’s junior-varsity girls team.

Bobadilla placed first in the 50 fly.

Malhi placed first in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free

Melchner placed second in the 100 IM.

Renga placed third in the 100 free.

Central Valley had just 30 swimmers, mostly JV, compete against Buhach Colony last week.

“For the athletes that are there every day, they’re very dedicated,” Brooks said. “They want to get better. They’re meeting their goals and setting personal bests.”

Central Valley will close out the 2019 CCC dual season against Patterson this Friday at Livingston High School.

The conference finals will be staged, April 17-18, at El Capitan.
