A Ceres High School teacher's aide was arrested Friday on charges that she illegally had sexual relations with one of her male students.

Paraprofessional instructional assistant Stacey Goodloe, 36, of Ceres, was arrested at approximately 4 p.m. and booked on three felony charges all stemming from unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

The boy, who was not identified, was under the age of 15.

Ceres Unified School District Superintendent Walt Hanline said officials received information from "multiple sources" on Thursday about Goodloe's alleged relationship with the student. The information sounded credible enough to prompt CUSD officials to contact the Ceres Police Department, said Hanline. Police had enough probable cause to have Goodloe taken into custody.

Goodloe was hired in 2005 to work as a paraprofessional, working directly with students with special needs in a classroom setting. She passed background checks before her hiring with no concerns, said Hanline.

Hanline stated that the alleged illegal acts did not take place on the school campus.

Goodloe was paid on paid administrative leave pending the results of the criminal charges.

"In our society you are recognized as innocent until proven guilty," said Hanline.

Goodloe has also been directed not to be on the grounds of any of the schools and is prohibited from contacting, students, parents or staff members, said Hanline.

Ceres High officials sent a notice home Monday to all parents notifying them of the charges made against their employee.

"It doesn't happen very often, thank God," said Hanline.

While authorities believe that Goodloe only had relations with just the boy, anyone with additional information about the case may call Detective Jason Coley at 538-5616.
