The theft of a drill from the Hatch Road Home Depot store ended with two suspects going to jail on a variety of theft and drug charges on Tuesday evening, Jan. 15.

A store loss prevention officer saw suspect Nicholaus Bjorge, 29, of Waterford, conceal a drill under his shirt and try to bypass the cash register. When he was confronted at the exit, Bjorge allegedly shoved the agent who hit her head against a pole, said Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Greg Yotsuya. Bjorge fled towards Hatch Road with the drill and was picked up by a vehicle. Police were called at 9 p.m.

Officer Nick Welsh spotted and stopped the suspects’ vehicle on Hatch Road. He approached the car and driver Linda Smith, a 40-year-old Turlock resident, immediately announced that she had a (meth) pipe in her bra and her license was suspended. Bjorge was in the front passenger seat with the stolen drill.

During a search of the vehicle, drug paraphernalia and heroin were found.

Bjorge was booked for robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Smith was booked for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia as well as driving on a suspended license.
