TURLOCK MAN ARRESTED ON GUN CHARGES

A 35-year-old Turlock motorcycle rider was taken into custody during a Thursday evening vehicle stop in Ceres for possession of a stolen gun.

While conducting proactive patrol enforcement at approximately 8 p.m., Officer Kevin Gallenkamp stopped Fernando Espinoza on his motorcycle for code enforcement violations in the area of Whitmore Avenue and Morgan Road.

Espinoza was found in possession of a firearm reported stolen from Oklahoma, along with a large-capacity magazine.

Espinoza was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of stolen property, carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of a firearm not registered to him and a misdemeanor warrant.

BREATHALYZER DOESN’T LIE: DRIVER GOES TO JAIL

Angel Porras, 25 of Modesto was arrested during a Saturday morning vehicle stop made by Ceres Police because he showed certain signs of being intoxicated.

Porras was driving a Chevrolet Impala in the area of Hatch Road near Herndon Road at 2:03 a.m. when he was pulled over by Ceres Police Officer Christian Diaz for vehicle code violations. Porras pulled over near the intersection of Watson Avenue and Church Lane where Officer Diaz contacted Porras and believed him to be under the influence of alcohol. A series of field sobriety tests confirmed the intoxication. Porras was arrested for DUI and provided breath samples that were nearly double the legal limit. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on DUI charges.

POLICE ARREST MODESTAN WITH WARRANTS

A Saturday afternoon vehicle stop in Ceres ended with the arrest of 41-year-old Modesto resident Navneet Kumar for multiple warrants.

At 4:21 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Chase Maloney was patrolling the area of Hatch Road near Herndon Road when he stopped Kumar for whom he was familiar and knew about his two misdemeanor warrants for narcotic related offenses and a felony warrant for narcotic and weapon related offenses. Kumar was arrested and booked into Stanislaus County Public Safety Center and his Lexus RX350 was towed.

MAN WITH CRIMINAL PAST JAILED ON DRUG CHARGES

A glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine and a white crystalline substance suspected of being methamphetamine was cause for Jonathan Marshall’s arrest during an early Thursday morning encounter with a Ceres Police officer.

At 2:27 p.m., Officer Charles Lord-Huff was patrolling the area of Hatch Road near Morgan Road when he observed Jonathan Marshall, 57, of Modesto for whom he was familiar. Officer Lord-Huff knew of Marshall’s felony arrest warrant for a prior theft charge. Officer Lord-Huff stopped Marshall to make the arrest and the search turned up the drug and paraphernalia.

Marshall was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for the warrant, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
