Approximately 200 persons attended the May 30 National Standard Flower Show sponsored by the Ceres Garden Club in collaboration with the Turlock Garden Club.

The free event was held at The Back Acre at Willow Farm on Service Road outside of Ceres and greeted with perfect weather for browsing the beautiful flowers, plants, and crafts.

The show received entries from the public and educated attendees about the exhibits. The theme was “Hats Off to You” and many attendees wore hats and received a special gift of an herbal scented sachet. Ribbons were awarded in the areas of Horticulture, Design, and Botanical Arts.

Many entries were auctioned off at the event with proceeds going to local scholarship awards for those who plan to study plant science and related fields.

The Ceres Garden Club meets September through June on the third Thursdays of the month at 10 a.m. at the Ceres Community Center. All meetings include an educational presentation. All are welcome to attend and welcome to join the club. The next meeting on Thursday, June 18 will focus on the topic of garlic and members will make Fire Cider.
