LOITERER UNSUCCESSFULLY TRIES TO DISCARD METH AS OFFICER APPROACHES
A 48-year-old Ceres man loitering around closed Hatch Road businesses was arrested Friday evening after he was seen tossing a bag of suspected meth as an officer approached him.
At 9:17 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Ian Perry was patrolling around the closed businesses in the 1700 block of Hatch Road when he spotted Jose Gutierrez hanging out. As Officer Perry approached Gutierrez he was observed throwing a small baggy containing a white crystalline substance suspected of being methamphetamine and walking away.
Gutierrez was quickly arrested. A records check showed that he had a felony warrant for his arrest related to a prior theft and had two or more prior arrests for possession of a controlled substance. Gutierrez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
CERES BICYCLIST ARRESTED ON WARRANT
Bradley Scoville, 30, of Ceres was arrested during a Tuesday morning, May 26 ride on his bicycle in which he was stopped by an officer and found to be wanted.
Scoville was riding in the area of Hatch Road near Central Avenue at 10:45 a.m. when Ceres Police Officer Greg Houser stopped him for vehicle code violations. Scoville provided a false name to the officer who then was able to confirm Scoville’s true identity. A records check noted Scoville had a felony warrant for his arrest. As Officer Houser attempted to make an arrest, Scoville took off running but was quickly apprehended and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for the felony warrant, resisting arrest and providing a false name to law enforcement.
RIVERBANK MAN BUSTED FOR DUI
Riverbank resident Luis Vasquez, 38, was arrested in Ceres early Saturday on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
At 12:01 a.m., Ceres Police Officer Kevin Gallenkamp was patrolling the 2100 block of Mitchell Road when he stopped Vasquez in a Toyota Highlander for vehicle code violations. While speaking with him, Officer Gallenkamp detected the signs and symptoms of Vasquez being under the influence of alcohol. Officer Romy McClain arrived and conducted a DUI investigation. Vasquez was arrested for DUI and provided breath samples over double the legal limit. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
