MAN CHARGED WITH STEALING PICKUP
Thomas Bettencourt, 46, of Modesto, was arrested Friday evening after Ceres Police Officer Andy Oropeza located a stolen Toyota Tacoma parked on the side of the road and linked him to it.
At approximately 6:31 p.m., Officer Oropeza was patrolling in the area of River Road and 9th Street when he found the stolen vehicle which was unoccupied.
Officers located Bettencourt in the immediate area and developed information linking him to the Toyota. Officers also found Bettencourt in possession of the keys to the pickup.
Bettencourt arrested on charges of vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for resisting arrest. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
LOCAL, 21, ARRESTED FOR DUI
Damian Sierra, 21, of Ceres, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol during an early Saturday morning vehicle stop.
Ceres Police Officer Juan Ramos was patrolling the area of Whitmore Avenue near Mitchell Road at 12:35 a.m., when he stopped Sierra in a Ford Mustang for vehicle code violations. During the encounter, Officer Ramos suspected that Sierra was under the influence and initiated a DUI investigation. Sierra’s participation in field sobriety tests led to his arrest for DUI while breath samples showed he was nearly double the legal limit.
Sierra was booked into the Public Safety Center.
The arrest was one of eight for DUI arrests during the period of June 16-22.
CAR STOP YIELDS TWO WARRANT ARRESTS
Two occupants of a car stopped by Ceres Police early Thursday morning were arrested on their respective warrants.
At 2:37 a.m., Ceres Police Officer Roger Khuon was patrolling the area of Herndon Avenue and Panero Way when he stopped a Hyundai Azera for vehicle code violations. A records check on occupants Jose Cruz, 41, and Valerie Olide, 32, both of Modesto, showed they both had warrants.
Cruz had five misdemeanor warrants for his arrest and Olide had one felony and one misdemeanor warrants for her arrest.
Olide and Cruz were arrested for their warrants and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
