About the business: Black Diamond specializes in fast, reliable cleanups — from construction debris and property cleanouts to last-minute jobs with tight deadlines.

“At the heart of our business is one simple mission: show up, work hard and help people when they need it most,” said owner Cameron Black of Ceres.

“When others don’t answer the call, we do. We pride ourselves on quick response times, honest communication, and getting the job done right the first time.”

Black, 35, started his new business in August after he decided to end 12 years of grueling commuting to his Bay Area construction superintendent job.

“I was just tired of commuting to the Bay Area, and I wanted to be here for my kids and, and be able to spend more time at home,” he said.

“I do a little bit of everything. I do junk removal, landscaping material delivery. I spread rock, gravel, asphalt. I just did 128 tons of asphalt out at the Turlock Sports Park. We do trailer rentals and we’re looking to do dumpster rentals in the near future.”

Black Diamond works with property owners and apartment landlords who want to clear out messes left by tenant or just haul off unwanted items. Black also has assisted folks with storage units and storage facility owners who want units cleared out

Black said his family believes in giving back to the community to “make a difference” and recently took the initiative to clean up the highly visible mess at the abandoned Triple R gas station property at Mitchell Road and Whitmore Avenue. His youngest son who has taken interest in cleanups assisted him.

“It took us a whole 45 minutes to an hour to really clean it up and we hauled away like 10 bags of trash and some fence boards,” said Black. When asked who made the mess, Black said the “homeless and it was pretty nasty to be honest with you. It wasn’t pleasant but it was a good experience for my son to see kind of a different way of life.”

At the Love Ceres event in April, Black donated use of his 7-foot by 14-foot dump trailer to haul debris from cleanup locations to donated trash bins supplied by Bertolotti Disposal at the Ceres Community Center.

Aside from that he was a part of a team that spread 15 yards of bark in flowerbeds at the Ceres American Legion Memorial Building. He also participated in two cleanups of properties of shut-ins.
