Hughson anniversary seal
Hughson has commissioned the creation of this logo celebrating the 50th anniversary of city incorporation.

The city of Hughson was incorporated on Dec. 9, 1972 and the community is gearing up for a series events to celebrate the 50th anniversary.

The City is organizing fun activities and contests that will commence Sept. 1 and take place until the anniversary is celebrated during the annual Downtown Christmas Festival and Parade, set to take place on Saturday, Dec. 3.

The city has also created a 50th anniversary logo which is now featured on the city’s website at www.hughson.org.

In observing the 50 years as an incorporated city, Mayor George Carr said that “Hughson has had its ups and downs but has continued to grow. Hughson has developed a nice downtown, built a great school system, and brought many organizations together through partnerships. However, the most important element to Hughson’s 50 years of success is the people. The residents of Hughson are the best around, and they will help Hughson thrive for the next 50 years and beyond.”

All K-12 students living in or attending school in Hughson are being invited to celebrate the city’s milestone by participating in a Student Art Contest taking place during the month of September, themed “Why I love Hughson.” Entrants must fill out an entry form and include a short paragraph on why they love Hughson. Contest information is available at http://hughson.org/50th-anniversary-festivities/

A full calendar of activities and contests will be released in the coming weeks. Opportunities for community members and businesses to join in on the festivities will also be available.
