Council to interview applicants for panels

Friday’s deadline for applications to be considered for appointment to the Ceres Planning Commission and the Measure H Oversight Committee ended with robust interest among citizens.

Six applications were received for three positions on the Planning Commission while three applications came in for two spots on the Measure H committee.

On Monday the Ceres City Council chose a committee to interview the applicants before appointments are made. Vice Mayor Linda Ryno asked to serve on the interview panel for the Planning Commission applicants, citing her nearly 30 years of serving as an employee in the city planning department. Mayor Jose Lopez agreed and also asked Councilman Bret Silveira to help him interview applicants for the Measure H Committee screening. Silveira said his law enforcement background would be helpful in screening applications for the Measure H Committee. The committee looks at how Measure H sales tax dollars are spent on public safety.
