The family of a Ceres man killed in a tragic July 16 vehicle crash has raised $16,220 towards funeral expenses of their loved on.

Luis Eduardo Naranjo Castro, 29, of Ceres died when his car collided with another vehicle just before 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 16 at Paradise and Shiloh roads.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Naranjo Castro was driving a 2004 Toyota pickup eastbound on Paradise Road at about 55 mph when the 16-year-old Patterson driver of a westbound 2026 Rivian SUV attempted to make a left turn onto southbound Shiloh Road. The CHP said the teen driver violated Naranjo Castro’s right of way and caused the fatal crash. Naranjo Castro died at the scene. His passenger, Nohe Salazarmartinez, 32, of Patterson, sustained major injuries and was rushed to a local hospital by ambulance.
The Patterson boy who caused the crash and his passenger, 38-year-old Carmen Borquezdefelix of Patterson, suffered minor injuries that required hospital treatment.
All occupants in both vehicles were wearing seat belts, according to the CHP.
Investigators said alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been factors in the collision.
