Fayad appointed to city’s Measure H Committee
Measure H committee appointment

John Fayad was appointed to the city of Ceres Measure H Oversight Committee designed to oversee how sales tax funds are spent on public safety.

The three-year term ends in 2029.

Angela Huerta, a member of the committee, applied for reappointment but Fayad got the nod.

Both applicants were quizzed by the council.

Fayad, a retiree who spent 35 years of service with Mission Linen, said he managed his “own successful route, that I understand profit and loss, I understand about return on investment.”

He also noted that he is a volunteer with the What Would Jesus Do Ministries and serves at the shower shuttle on Hatch Road at the New Visions Church every Thursday. He also helps out with Operation 9-2-99 of periodic clean-ups along the Tuolumne River.

Councilwoman Cerina Otero motioned to appoint Fayad which was supported also by James Casey and Vice Mayor Daniel Martinez but opposed by Mayor Javier Lopez and Councilwoman Rosalinda Vierra voted no.
