Pedestrian, 35, critically injured on Hatch Road
• Witnesses sought in Thursday evening crash
Ceres Police investigation

A 35-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a vehicle on Hatch Road west of Boothe Road on Thursday evening.

The crash took place at approximately 6:36 p.m.

The victim was treated at the scene by first-responders and rushed to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition with major head trauma. His name was not released.

Ceres Police Department investigators believes that the victim was walking on the south side with eastbound Hatch Road traffic when he was struck from behind by a gray Cadillac. The driver, a 37-year-old Ceres man, remained on scene and was cooperative in the investigation.

It does not appear that alcohol was a factor.

Hatch Road between Boothe Road and just east of Mitchell Road remained closed for several hours while officers from the Ceres Police Traffic Unit Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) worked to process the accident scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is encouraged to contact Officer Aaron Pinon at (209) 538-5678 or by email at aaron.pinon@ci.ceres.ca.us.
