A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Pioneer Cemetery for Andrew Wheeler Barnes, 93, of Hickman. He died Sunday, April 17, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center, Modesto.

Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Born Nov. 12, 1911, Mr. Barnes was a native of Eagle Ranch. He was a fifth-generation dry land farmer until retirement in 1975. He helped administer the agriculture 3A Program in Modesto for 25 years. For eight years he served as trustee on the Hughson High School board. He served 25 years as a commissioner on the Montpelier Fire Protection District and served on the board of the Boy Scouts for 10 years.

He is survived by his children, Jary Barnes of Hickman and Ann Styles of Porterville; and seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Maude Barnes.

Remembrances may be sent to a favorite charity.
