A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel for Billie Lee "Bill" Turner, 71, of Ceres. He died Nov. 6, 2008 from injuries sustained in a ruthless attack the day before as he worked in his yard.

Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born July 6, 1937, Bill was a native of Arkansas and a longtime resident of the Ceres-Modesto area. He was the owner of a longtime successful business, Turner's Electric & Appliances. He held several certifications and licenses and was known to be quite handy and able to fix nearly anything. He had a vast knowledge of how things worked mechanical or well as electrically. Well liked, Bill's business dealings allowed him to forge lifelong friendships throughout the entire area.

He leaves behind his four children, Lou Ann Whitfield, Shannon Breckenridge, Dianna Luks and Danny Turner; two sisters, Mary Alice Hickcox and Mildred Evans; his brother, Charles Turner; and eight grandsons, five granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Virgil and Katie Turner, brother John Turner, son Gary Don Turner, and grandson Michael.
