A Mass was held Friday at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Catarino Sanchez, 88, of Modesto. He died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center.

Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park under the direction of the McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs.

Born June 12, 1916, Mr. Sanchez was a native of Coalcoman, Mexico, and lived in Modesto for 37 years. He was a farmer for 65 years and a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres.

He leaves behind seven children, Antonio Sanchez, Jose Sanchez and Francisco Sanchez, all of Modesto, Jesus Sanchez of Stockton, Maria Sanchez of Visalia, Rosa Sanchez of Salinas and Rafael Sanchez of San Jose; three brothers, Francisco Sanchez, Antonio Sanchez and Jose Sanchez, all of Farmersville; five sisters, Carlota Sanchez, Guadalupe Sanchez, Rosario Sanchez and Carmela Sanchez, all of Mexico, and Angelina Sanchez of Farmersville; and 32 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gregoria Espindola; and son Conrado Sanchez.
