A memorial service was held on Tuesday Dec. 8, at Pentecostal Church of God in Hughson for Catherine "Cathy" Barnard, 77, of Ceres. She died Nov. 19, 2009 with loved ones by her side.
Born Aug. 18,1932 in Ohio to Clarence and Dorothy Cook in Ohio, Cathy moved to California in 1963. She owned her own answering service in Delano until 1973, then moved to the Modesto/Ceres area where she worked for Mervyns and the Modesto Bee until retiring.
She leaves behind three children, Sherryl Murray of Manteca, Donald Williams of Ceres and Ruth Espinola of Atwater; three brothers, David Cook of New York, and Ted Cook and John Cook, both of Ohio; three grandchildren, Jennifer Campodonica of Atwater, Michael Williams of Bakersfield and Crystal Williams of Palmdale; and three great-grandchildren, Jakob, Zakery, and Ashlyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, three sons and husband Lester.
