A chapel service was held Thursday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Charles James Braden, 91, of Hughson. He died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005 at Brandel Manor in Turlock.

Burial was private at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Feb. 4, 1914, Mr. Braden was a native of California, and had lived in Hughson for 68 years. He was a farmer. Mr. Braden was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows 461, Farm Bureau, California Cling Peach Association and Blue Diamond, and was a 4-H leader.

He leaves behind two sons, Richard Braden and Stanley Braden, both of Hughson; his brother, Fritz Braden of Los Angeles; and three sisters, Grace Alexander of Modesto, Phyllis Lohman of Ballico and Helen Emig of Modesto; and nine grandchildren and 16great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Braden, and two sisters.
