Services were held Friday at the Free Will Baptist Church in Turlock for Charlie Leroy Anderson, 45, of Turlock. He died on Sept. 19, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Born July 18, 1964 in Modesto, Charlie was raised in Turlock and South Dakota. After he graduated from Roslyn High School in 1982, he attended college in Watertown, S.D. He enlisted in the Army in 1986, and was honorably discharged in 1995, as a sergeant. He was awarded many medals, badges, and ribbons. Charlie settled back in Turlock in 1997, met Betty and was married in 2000. Mr. Anderson lived in Ceres for a number of years, the last time being from 1998 to 2000. He was employed with Stiles Truck Body as a welder for the last 10 years. Charlie also worked for Modesto Air Conditioning and Heating in South Modesto, a business owned by his cousin, Larry Zumwalt, for over three years. He enjoyed fishing and creating welding projects.

He leaves behind his wife, Betty Anderson of Turlock; his children, Michael Camarillo, Andrea Rubio and Joshuah Rubio, all of Turlock; his mother, Peggie Anderson of Turlock; his sisters, Cindy Carlson of Winnemucca, Nev., and Cass Caulton of Ceres; his brother, Steven Anderson of Turlock; and four grandchildren.
