A Mass will be at 9 a.m. today at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Francisco Linares, 72, of Modesto. He died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at Doctors Medical Center.

Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Modesto under the direction of Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel.

Born Aug. 1, 1931, Mr. Linares was a native of Jamay, Mexico, and had lived in Modesto for 13 years. He was a cook for 15 years and had worked at Acapulco Restaurant. Mr. Linares was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching birds.

He leaves behind his wife, Tomasa Linares of Modesto; seven children, Humberto Linares, Francisco Linares Jr., Enrique Tomas Linares, Ana Maria Linares de Acosta, Maria Estela Linares and Guadalupe Linares, all of Modesto, and Juana Linares de Gonzalez of Sacramento; his brother, Manuel Linares of Mexicali, Baja California; four sisters, Genia Linares of Los Angeles, Teresa Linares, Maria Linares and Elvira Linares, all of Mexicali; and 28 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
