It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Geraldine Ann (Lytle) Brown – affectionately known as Gerry – on Nov. 10, 2023, at the age of 89 in Modesto.

Born on Feb. 2, 1934 in Sutton County, Nebraska, she was the cherished daughter of Howard and Rozella Lytle. The family moved to California in 1938, settling in the Ceres/Turlock area where Gerry would spend the majority of her life.

Gerry graduated from Ceres High School in 1952. She devoted over a decade of her professional life as a receptionist for Dr. Wayne Bigelow, demonstrating her dedication and care for others.

A devoted Catholic, Gerry’s life was a testament to her faith. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, crafting the world’s best apple pie, a talent she shared generously with loved ones. Her passion for travel led her to explore the beauty of Alaska and Hawaii through cruises, creating lasting memories.

One of the greatest joys in Gerry’s life was her beloved husband, Leonard Brown. Their profound love for each other was evident to all who knew them. They were true soulmates, sharing a deep connection and enjoying life’s journey together. The time they spent together was filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect, setting an example of true partnership for their family and friends.

Gerry was a devoted member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Ceres. Her life was characterized by her deep love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Gerry is survived by her children, Terry Pack, Randy Casey, and stepson Dave Brown; her grandchildren, Danielle Lyons, Kayla Lyons, Melanie Johnson (Casey), Jennifer Ahumada (Pack), Dustin Pack, David Brown (step), Noah Brown (step), Joseph Brown (step); great-grandchildren; and brothers Paul and Gary Lytle. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Leonard Brown, and siblings Bobby, Patricia, and Edward Lytle.

The family welcomes you to the funeral service that will be held on December 11, 2023, at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel in Modesto at 10:30 a.m., followed by a private graveside service. The family invites you to join them in celebrating her life at Golden Bowl Restaurant located in Hughson at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seva Hospice. For more information, please contact Valley Comfort at 419 Scenic Drive, Modesto, CA 95350.

She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
