Services were held Friday at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman for Gertrude Jane Roderick, 87, of Modesto. She died Dec. 15, 2008 in Modesto.
The Oakdale Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Born Dec. 10, 1921, Gert was a native of Hughson. She just recently celebrated her 87th birthday surrounded by family and friends. Mrs. Roderick enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called her Gigi.
She leaves behind her children, Allen Roderick of Brentwood and Sherrill Medeiros-Ciccarelli of Oakdale; three sisters, Dorothy Boggeri and Mabel Voorhees both of Hughson, and Esthermae Soper of Modesto; her grandchildren, Shari Glover of Lodi, Alana Knowles of Brentwood, Doug Roderick of Newcastle, Hollee Maffeo of Pleasant Hill and Michael Medeiros of Bakersfield; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Edward W. Roderick.
