A funeral service was held Saturday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel for Helen Ruth Morse Raley, 81, of Hughson. She died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005 at Alexander Cohen Hospice House.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born March 17, 1924, Mrs. Raley was a native of Urbana, Ill., and lived in Hughson since 1996, and previously in Modesto, Turlock and Walnut Creek. She was a child day-care provider for 25 years, and previously operated a rest home for 10 years. Mrs. Raley was a member of First Baptist Church of Hughson, Denair Senior Club, and the VIP Senior Group of Big Valley Church. She enjoyed traveling and organizing trips.

She leaves behind her husband, James W. Raley of Hughson; two children, Corene Naron of Hughson and Margaret White of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; two stepchildren, Jim Raley and Bill Raley, both of Modesto; and seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her children David F. Lambert and Paul Lambert; three brothers; and two sisters.
