A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27 at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home in Merced for Mary Margret Deal, 80, of Hughson. She died Dec. 17, 2008 at Country Manor of Samaritan Village in Hughson.
Born Jan. 10, 1928 Mary was a native of Nicoma, Kansas, the daughter of Bert Dennis and Laura Ann Murphy. She lived on the family farm in Kansas until she was a teenager, at which time her family relocated to Southern California. Mary was married to William "Bill" Thomas Deal on Dec. 15, 1946. They lived in Rialto for 11 years before moving to Merced in 1964. After 51 years of marriage, Bill died on Dec. 21, 1997. Mary enjoyed spending time with friends, golfing, traveling, gardening, playing bridge, listening to music and dancing. Mrs. Deal belonged to the Hospital Assistance League, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Rialto Women's Club, Merced Women's Club and the Merced Golf and Country Club.
She leaves behind her children, Michael, Darrlyn and Bradley; her sister, Janeal Clark; her brother, Richard Murphy; her grandchildren, Craig, Scott, Brittney, Ransom, Haylee and Della; and two great-grandsons
