A graveside service was held Tuesday at at Lakewood Memorial Park for Milton L. Alvine, 90, of Hughson. He died peacefully on Sept. 16, 2009 surrounded by family members.

Born in Illinois on Dec. 12, 1918, Milton served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was married to his beloved wife, Shirley Alvine, for 65 years. He attended Modesto Junior College and owned the Hughson Locker Plant and service station on Third Street for over 60 years. He also served on the Hughson Volunteer Fire Department for many years. After retiring, he and his wife operated a business at Denio's. Milton had a passion for staying active, and was always repairing something.

He leaves behind two children, Nicki Iturreria and and Jack Alvine; six grandchildren Jeff Keener, Randy Keener, Cindy Wake, Amanda Ford, Kevin Alvine, Kyle Alvine, and Kasia Alvine; and 14 great- grandchildren, Quinn Alvine, Margaret Alvine, Veronica Alvine, Thomas Alvine, Jamie Wake, Kristina Wake, Stephanie Wake, Westly Wake, Kelly Wake, Alysa Wake, Elizabeth Wake, Carly Wake, Noah Wake and Jessica Ford; and six great-great-grandchildren.
