The Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements for Nathaniel Granville Blackburn, 57, of Ceres. He died Thursday, July 1, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
A memorial service was held at the Ceres Seventh-day Adventist Church on Saturday.
Born March 10, 1947, Mr. Blackburn was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and lived in Ceres for 11 years. He lived in San Jose prior to moving to Ceres. Mr. Blackburn was a warehouseman for 18 years and belonged to the Teamsters Warehouse Union Local 439 and Unified Western Grocers. Mr. Blackburn served in the Army from 1974 to 1978. He was active in the Ceres Seventh-day Adventist Church where he served as a deacon.
He leaves behind his wife, Simone Blackburn of Ceres; two children, Heather Blackburn and Bradley Blackburn, both of Ceres; his father, Wendell Blackburn of Altadena; four brothers, Courtney Blackburn of Santa Cruz, Konrad Blackburn of the Philippine Islands, Wendell Blackburn and Daniel Blackburn, both of Los Angeles; eight sisters, Imogene Blackburn of Upland, Bernadette Stone of Temecula, Denise Small of Dana Point, Rhonda Blackburn of Los Angeles, Donna Houston of Sherman Oaks, Jerina Colyer of Laguna Nigel, Cynthia Tierny of Fontana and Mary Jean Johnson of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.
