A memorial service was held Monday in the Hughson United Methodist Church for Patricia Moore Starn, of Hughson. The widow of former supervisor and long time Hughson farmer, Rolland C. Starn, died Jan. 16, 2008 at her home in Hughson home.

Lakewood Funeral Home was in charge of interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born March 17, 1922, Mrs. Starn was a native of Denair and lived there on the family farm with her parents, three brothers and three sisters. At the beginning of World War II, she entered the civil service and worked as a secretary for two years at an air base in Stockton. In 1943, she married Rolland C. Starn of Hughson, an Army Air Corp pilot in training. After the war they settled in Hughson on the family farm. She joined her father-in-law in the real estate business in 1964 and opened her own office when her father-in-law retired. Mrs. Starn retired from real estate but soon after, she and her sister Barbara, owned and operated Hughson Antiques for many years.

Pat was an active member of the Hughson United Methodist Church, the 20th Century Club of Hughson and the California Women for Agriculture. She and her husband, Rolland, were involved in numerous agriculture organizations. She enjoyed her monthly bridge club group for over 40 years.

She leaves behind her four sons, Cliff Starn of Hughson, John Starn of Modesto, Chuck Starn of Ventura, and Paul Starn of Danville; two brothers, Howard Moore of Indiana, and Don Moore of Snelling; two sisters, Margaret Scott of Arkansas and Barbara Krene of Carpenteria; and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Rolland C. Starn, parents Wilbur and Lelia Moore, brother Charles Moore, and sister Helen Green.
