A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Soul Harvest Church, 3200 Tully Road, Modesto, for Patsy Arlene Sponaugle, 61, of Ceres. She died Christmas eve at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto following a battle with cancer.

Evans Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and cremation.

Born March 18, 1947 to Cecil Land and Bernice Scritchfield Land, Patsy was a native of Granby, Mo. She moved to California in 1948 and grew up in the Valley, living in the Turlock and Ceres areas. Mrs. Sponaugle was a 1966 graduate of Ceres High School. She worked for the Ceres Courier and Ceres Floral prior to finding work at Village Bakery in McHenry Village eight years ago. She enjoyed working with people, visiting her grandchildren in Sacramento and traveling.

She leaves behind four children, Gary Fox of Modesto, Donnie Fox of Empire, Kenny Fox of Sacramento, and Patricia Sponaugle of Ceres; her stepdaughter, Jessica Parson of West Virginia; her ex-husband, James Sponaugle of French Camp; and four brothers, her sister and six grandchildren.
