A funeral service was held Thursday at the Ceres Seventh-day Adventist Church for Stella Fimbrez, 51. She died Feb. 14, 2012 at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto after a three-year battle with a terminal illness.

Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel was in charge of her burial at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Dec. 16, 1960 in Merced to Rudy and Mary Fimbrez, Stella was raised in the Modesto-Ceres area and attended Modesto Adventist Academy in Ceres and worshiped at the Ceres Seventh-day Adventist Church. She graduated from Downey High School. She was a waitress at Alfonso's Bar and Grill in Ceres for several years before completing a degree in computer information systems and beginning a technical career at Memorial Medical Center. Stella relocated to Newark and worked for the company owned by Ross Perot, and then Stanford Children's Hospital and finally Dell Systems. Stella enjoyed fashion and hair and enjoyed attending hair shows.

She leaves behind her son, Jaime Ray Rangel Jr.; her parents, Rudy and Mary Fimbrez; her sisters, Paula Jane Torres and Judy Corrales; her brothers, Rudy Fimbrez and Mario Fimbrez; her grandchildren, Delia Rangel and Joaquin Rangel; and long time companion, Carlos Aviles. She was preceded in death by sister Edwina Fimbrez who died in 1979.
