Vote out those who want to take away our rights

Editor, Ceres Courier,

I voted against same sex marriage. I was labeled a homophobe.

I am a Vietnam veteran, according to the White House that means I'm a possible terrorist.

I am angry about our Congressman Dennis Cardoza, among others, who votes on bills that they don't take time to read or understand. According to Nancy Polosi that makes me un-American.

What's next? Purple shirts kicking in my door and dragging me off to a concentration camp?

Wake up, people, stand up for your rights that are being stolen from you. Let's vote out these guys and put in new blood that will represent we the people and not special interest.

Signed a un-American, homophobic, terrorist.

Hubert Waldo,

Ceres

No wonder they say there's global warming

Editor, Ceres Courier,

For many years, thousands of scientists and other technical people have stated that humans do not cause global warming. Nature does.

The official record of temperatures in the USA comes from a network of 1,221 climate-monitoring stations overseen by the National Weather Service. Anthony Watts, a 25-year broadcast meteorology veteran, recruited a team of more than 650 volunteers to visually inspect and photograph more than 860 of these stations. They were shocked to find that 89 percent of the stations failed to meet the requirement that stations must be 100 feet or more away from artificial heating, radiating, and reflecting heat sources.

Even worse, they found major gaps in the data record that were filled in with data from nearby sites. Their conclusion was that the U.S. temperature record is unreliable and should not be used to promote unsubstantiated global warming theories. City officials unfair to fire victim

Editor, Ceres Courier,

Can you imagine being forced from your home, where you spent countless years making family memories, by your own elected officials and representatives. How dare they. How dare they tear you away from the things and the places that you love the most!

For the Lomeli family, they don't have to imagine, because they have been living this nightmare for almost an entire year. The city of Ceres officials decided one day after a small, insignificant fire, that the Lomeli family home did not meet their high standards, and all of a sudden, the proud homeowners were homeless. Soon after the strongarm eviction by our trusted officials, Mr. and Mrs Lomeli were forced to demolish their small, proud home and were left with a bare lot. Since that fateful day, the couple have been living in a small, confined trailer, with no air conditioning and a porta potty.

After constant badgering, the city of Ceres finally agreed to be gracious enough to give the Lomeli couple a loan to rebuild their home. What a relief they thought, a small home could be built and they could live out their lives in relative comfort. The last thing they expected was to be caught in a battle with the city over every minor detail and be saddled with thousands of additional dollars that the city demanded for their multiple pet projects. The street needs to be widened, there needs to be a new sidewalk, and other capital improvements should be placed on the shoulders of the already burdened seniors. How dare they have the nerve to make multiple unnecessary demands. These officials should be ashamed of their lack of empathy, and their complete and utter disregard for my parents basic needs.

Let's find out who is running this circus and tell them to take their sideshow elsewhere. These officials are supposed to work for you, not you for them. What gives them the right to kick us out of our homes?

Martin Lomeli,

Ceres

Board cannot be trusted with policy

Editor, Ceres Courier,

In regards to the Sound Off "Babysit School Board" I am in complete agreement. If a person has to attend all School Board meetings to ensure that their own policies are enforced, than I presume that we also need to attend all City Council, county Board of Supervisors, and all other governing board meetings as no elected board can be trusted to follow their written policies.

I realize that a School Board member cannot make a living as a trustee as the maximum pay is $400 a month. They did run and campaign for the position and should carry out the duties according to policy. If they desire to vary from the policy, then make a change of policy before hand.

David Entriken,
