The Ceres Sizzle 10-and-under travel softball team pushed its unbeaten streak to 15 games last week.

Ceres posted a perfect 5-0 record en route to a first-place finish at its own tournament, staged July 12-14, at George Costa Ball Field Complex.

The Sizzle captured their third straight title.

Ceres also took first in Newman and Riverbank.

"Our team is successful because we all work together," coach Claudia Mendoza said. "We're very talented. We get along well and play ball awesome. We have a great group of parents. Hopefully, we keep it going."

The Sizzle topped Atwater 18-0 for the Ceres title on Sunday.

Ceres shut out semifinal opponent Gustine 15-0 earlier in the day.

The Sizzle swept all three of their opponents, including Atwater (15-1), Modesto (11-2) and Gustine (15-0) on Saturday.

"The girls did an awesome job," Mendoza said. "They stepped up to the challenge."

Ceres has an 11-player roster: Vianney Perez, Rebecca DeLeon, Karissa McDonald, Katie Rife, Shay Murphy, Isa Vizcaino, Victoria Gudino, Kaley Davis, Baily Showen, Vanessa Oliver and Maddison Rollins.

Perez, DeLeon, McDonald and Rife make up the Sizzle's pitching staff.
"Everyone contributes to the team's success," Mendoza said. "We're strong all the way around. We push them hard at practice."

Ceres will participate in a tournament this week in Sonora.

"We'll see more challenging teams," Mendoza said. "We'll be prepared. Hopefully, we'll continue our streak and just get better."
