Ceres waterpolo team dunks Downey, 24-3

The Ceres High varsity boys water polo team defeated Downey 24-3 on Thursday in Ceres.

Nine players scored for the Bulldogs, who improved to 2-1 in the Modesto Metro Conference.

Joey Rossi tallied a season-high eight goals. Markus Richter, George Polovin, Vince Wester and Ryan Calou all had three goals. Chris Rossi had two goals. Max Ottersbach, Vitaly Polovin and Kevin Fliflet each had one goal.

Miguel Castillo, the Bulldogs' goalkeeper, had three saves.

"By the time the second quarter was over, we knew we would win," Rossi said.

"It was like a practice."

The Ceres High varsity girls water polo team posted a 21-11 victory over the Knights.

Six players scored for the Bulldogs, who improved to 2-1 in the league standings.

Lauren Griffin, Katie Griffith and Sarah Willems each had five goals. Samantha Walters tallied four goals. Jessica Ornells and Kaycee Fonsworth both added one goal.
